Infant Swimming Guidelines And Safety Tips

At Aquastrem Swimming School, our swim instructors emphasize integrity, compassion and as well as trust in order to train children as young as 6 months old swimming knowledge and as well as water safety skills. Here are some important swimming guidelines that you can follow in order to ensure that your child is safe in the water.

Restrict children from unattended access to swimming pools and water sources since it takes just a few moments for a little one to water off. Therefore, you need to be prepared and take whatever steps are necessary to make sure that the pool, for example, has a gate and is always locked.

In addition, it is a good idea to have a barricade, for precautions, between your home and the entry to the water, especially if you live near a lake or river. This will help you to ensure that your little swimmers are always secured from a possible water emergency.

Get your little ones enrolled in swimming lessons. Generally, prior to beginning swimming classes at Aquastream, many parents give us a question:

When Can Babies Swim?

At our swimming school at Vaughan & Barrie, every swimming program has particularly tailored according to the needs of children in every age. For example, your baby can start taking swimming classes as young as 4 months old. This means, your child will already see swimming as a natural experience, even before s/he starts to walk.

Of course, it will take a bit longer before your kid starts doing laps around the pool, however, you and as well as s/he can experience extraordinary results by acquiring some essential swim guidelines. This includes knowing how to put their faces in the water, as well as floating on back, and other abilities that support them to stay safe in and around the water.

Keep toys away from the pool in times when there is no one in the pool. Kids like to learn new things and as well as exploring. Therefore, they will do whatever takes to reach the toys once they see them on the water. Thus, although taking toys out of the pool might seem pointless when you head inside for a coffee, it will make sure that your little ones are safer when you are not around.

Another interesting fact is that our children can sense the emotions even parents don’t suspect it. Therefore, when a parent gets comfortable in the water, it is likely that the baby will feel the same as well. This, in turn, will create an environment where there is no panic for both sides. If you don’t know how to swim yet, you can join our swimming programs for adult learners to acquire this life skill!

During the swimming sessions at Aquastream, our instructors follow all the guidelines and besides the important swimming skills and stroke techniques, they also focus on broader water survival competency abilities. You are always welcome to bring your little one to Aquastream’s free try-out class in order to get an evaluation based on their current abilities which later used to tailor the best swim program for their needs.
